    Making New Things Old

I love the look of old things. I found an awesome old scrapbook at a sale for $5. The binding was hurting so I saved the front and back covers and added my own pages. I wanted to embellish it with old buttons but didn’t have ones that looked old enough. So . . . I made my own. Planning on making some yourself? You can use ‘old’ buttons to make jewelry, set in a cute teacup, or adorn your own art journal. Want to make your own ‘antique buttons?’ Simple. You’ll need: Red colored paint (Brand I used was Folk Art) Brown colored paint (Brand I used was Folk…

    The Gift of Presence

Around the holidays we can get caught up in getting and giving the perfect or enough gifts. The reality is that often we can’t remember what gifts we’ve gotten in years past but we do remember the memories of being together. The most important gift is, the gift of presence. A few friends and I celebrated just that on Monday. We met when I was a lead Fiskateer and we met through the lovely fun wide world of crafting. What a blessing these ladies have been in my life. Through paper and scissors, I have gained a group of lifelong friends. While crafting brought us together, and I’m so grateful…

    Heart Layers

The Illustrated Faith Heart Layers Kit had so many beautiful hearts in it. The word stamps and washi tape were absolutely precious and I’ve only begun to scratch the surface on using the kits contents. The study is rich and really personal so I’m taking my time to soak it in. It’s a great one if you’re looking for a devotional. I won’t be sharing my actual devotion/study book (as that’s between my King and I), but I hope to encourage through scripture and the journaling I do in my Bible. The below flips up to reveal a heart layer and the title of ‘The Wound.” We all have them…

    Art Journaling in Scripture

I’m thoroughly enjoying the New Testament Illustrated Faith study titled Revival Camp. The fun travel theme lends itself to a great devotional that sheds light on what we need to wear as believers, looking through a specific perspective (our love glasses) and more. Here is another entry in my Bible I created as I worked through another devotion. I’ve read this verse many a times throughout the years, but to ‘create’ it, really helped me to think on and ponder the meaning. I even cut a heart and glued it back together symbolic that He heals our broken hearts and lifts us up. Psalm 34:18 ~ The Lord is near…

    Disney Dreams Album

This little album is from my heart. While I wish I would have had more time to work on it, things have been hectic at home and work, I enjoyed creating this little wrap mixed media journal with a Disney theme. It was created with someone special in mind who is going through a medical challenge. This special someone enjoys taking trips to Disneyland. I am hoping it will be perfect to put some mini photos in there of a favorite trip to D-land. Here’s a peek at the album. Here are some supplies I used: Sizzix Wrap Journal Die, acrylic paint, Tim Holtz stamps, clips, dies, and ephemera, texture…
