Soul Words ~ A Quick Healthy Soul Exercise
Working full-time I realize I need to get some Soul Nourishment in before my day starts because once I get to work it’s 0 – 60 in no time flat. My day gets going at a busy pace so making sure I take a break some days is a necessity. That brings me to a soul nourishing exercise that is quick, easy and refreshing.
The Exercise:
In the image below I’ve listed some soul words. Simply take a planner (your current one or an old one), journal, or even a sheet of paper and say the word out loud. Write the word on your paper and then ponder what that word means to you in your life today. When you write the word and what it means to you today you can make it a prayer, an action item or simply a declaration. You can elaborate or make it very simple. You can sketch next to it, brush letter the word or just keep it simple.
For example, the word Find. Right now, I’m off my feet due to an injury and I am bedridden after some pretty extensive foot surgery. When I think of the word Find, today I wrote . . .
- (Prayer) Find . . . Lord, help me to find patience and peace. It’s difficult sitting still but I know it’s a necessary part of the healing process. Help me to use my quiet time wisely, to rest when I need to and to nourish my body and soul. Thank you Lord for good medical care and doctors. Thank you for this day.
I might want to keep it simple and make it an action item . . .
- (Action Item) Find . . . peace during this time. Help me not to rush ahead and to slow down. Set my alarm to take a daily break.
- (Declaration) Find . . . I will Find and strive towards a better way each day to set boundaries for myself, to keep my peace and to nourish myself.
I’m a huge sketcher and depending on time, I may pull out some basic supplies that I try and keep with me at all times and sketch something pertaining the to Soul Word. I did want to share that on the Brave Girl’s University teaching platform, there’s a wonderful basic sketching and watercolor class titled “Keeping a Sketchbook” taught by Gina Rossi Armfield. Below is a peek at the class. It’s a great course. If you’re interested in Brave Girl University – an incredible value to feed creativity of all kinds and nourish the soul, you can click the link on the sidebar of my blog or go HERE to find out more.
