Art Each Day Helps Stress Stay Away

    July 12, 2021 /

It’s proven that creating art helps to lower blood pressure and help stress. While it’s not 100%, creating does help! I’ve had stressors in my life recently and participating in the Index Card A Day challenge (ICAD) has helped me take even just a bit of time to create a small work of art. Most recently, below are some of the most current cards I created with lots ‘o texture. Interested in knowing more? Search #icad. I shared some from the first half HERE. It runs through the end of this month. I’m keeping up although it’s been challenging at times. Nonetheless, I’m grateful for art. Art sure helps save…

    ICAD What?

    July 5, 2021 /

If you’re a crafter and you hop on any social media platforms, you might notice the word ICAD? What in the world is an ICAD? Well, during June and July, a challenge takes place called ‘Index Card a Day.’ That’s what an ICAD is. The challenge? You create on an index card beginning June 1 and ending July 31. That is 61 artful index cards. So I’ve been sharing a few. While on vacation for two weeks in Minnesota, I had very limited supplies but managed to keep up some. It was fun challenging myself to create with just a few supplies. For a lot of my cards I did…

DIY Canvas Tape Using My Gel Press

    January 31, 2021 /

Oh how I love my gel press. The gel press plate picks up lovely layers of acrylic paint. I had some canvas adhesive tape in my stash for years and thought it would make a unique tape. The canvas tape is more dense and thick than a washi or mixed media tape. So I laid acrylic and Archival ink on my gel plate first . . . Next I brayered a thin layer of white paint on the plate and laid down the canvas side of the tape on the plate and pressed firmly. The tape then picked up the paint on the canvas tape. I then added a little…

    Sending Love with DIY Postcards

    August 26, 2020 /

A couple of weeks back one of the gals in a very special circle of crafty friends mentioned that Mark Montano was doing a DIY Handcrafted Postcard Swap. The idea is to create your own postcards (ten to be exact), pay a small fee for handling, mailing and sorting, send to Mark and receive ten other postcards from around the world. It was a project to share a little love and care during these wild times in our world. Isn’t that kind of Mark Montano? I was really excited to be a part of the post card swap as it was a way to spread a little love. Here’s a…
