Natural Dyeing and Embroidery
What to do with all that beautiful fabric you dyed using fruits, flowers and vegetables? See more HERE. Here’s what I did. Stamp on it: create a sketch, transfer it to a sheet of rubber, then carve a stamp. You can also use a stamp you already have. Ink that stamp up and place on a piece of your naturally dyed cloth. Embroider all or parts of the stamped image. Here are my results. Secondly, I created an art journal page to remember my combinations and the outcome of the dyeing experiments. I encourage you to try something you’ve never done before. It just might be stress releasing and over…

Nature’s Beautiful Hues
With so many artificial products out in our world, it’s so refreshing when you can enjoy natures beautiful hues. I am so enjoying one of the gifts my hubby gave me for Christmas . . . Wanderlust class. I’ve heard of natural dying before (with flowers, spices and more), but I’ve never given a try, until now. I’m so thrilled to say that I love it. It’s easy, fun and the result is beautiful. I thought I’d share the results with you. For the below I used avocado pits, hibiscus flowers, Tumeric and some black tea. Wishing you a day filled with beautiful color and blessing.

Making New Things Old
I love the look of old things. I found an awesome old scrapbook at a sale for $5. The binding was hurting so I saved the front and back covers and added my own pages. I wanted to embellish it with old buttons but didn’t have ones that looked old enough. So . . . I made my own. Planning on making some yourself? You can use ‘old’ buttons to make jewelry, set in a cute teacup, or adorn your own art journal. Want to make your own ‘antique buttons?’ Simple. You’ll need: Red colored paint (Brand I used was Folk Art) Brown colored paint (Brand I used was Folk…

Upcycling Christmas Cards
I love receiving Christmas cards. I love the ones with photos of friends throughout the years, of fun cards, personal notes penned inside the pages and those beautiful hand made works of art. Three cards I wanted to highlight are below. One is a store bought card (deer) but so beautiful. The other two are handmade. I was recently at a new Dollar Tree store that just opened up and thought I’d take a peek at what they had. I found these $1 frames and thought that would be perfect to frame the three cards. Check out below. Next year these beautiful cards will adorn a fireplace mantel or bathroom…

Planning for the New Year – Inspiration
This next week in my creative planner looks like the below. Hoping for a wonderful week ahead. The quote for the week reminds me of my amazing and caring boss that we lost on December 30th. She cared so much for others and she will be missed. She certainly did the following and I hope to do the same . . . ‘Live gently on this earth.’

Making It – Gifts
How many of you are enjoying another season of Making It on NBC? I know I am! It’s phenomenal. I thought I’d share some of the gifts that I made this year. I shared a quick tutorial HERE on making your own quick gift bags while using your stash. What’s behind those gift bags? Let me tell you. I enjoyed personalizing them according to co-workers personalities. While it’s fun to receive, I think I experience a lot of joy making and giving. I’ll be making gifts for the guys in my work life as well. Handcrafted and homemade is fun for both the giver and receiver. How about you? Are…

Quick and Easy Gift Bag – Using Your Stash
I’m all about using my stash and during the holidays, your stash can come in very handy. A couple of things I keep on hand regularly is plain kraft-colored bags, tulle, and small gifts. Pair these things together with Sizzix dies and the possibilities are endless. I wanted to share a quick tutorial for a cute handcrafted gift bag. You can take this same concept and make a matching card as well. I used a Sizzix Tim Holtz Bigz Die titled Reindeer Flight which someone gifted me a couple years ago. It was used but I loved it. Here’s the how to to make a stamp and quick and cute…
