Breast Cancer Awareness Month – A Peek into my Chemo Art Journal
October is Breast Cancer awareness month and as most of you know, I am a breast cancer survivor of four years in November. I speak often for the American Cancer Society raising awareness and funds for those diagnosed and research. I have been sending out some reminders regarding ladies, doing your self checks and getting your mammograms if you are of age or at risk. Men, I’ve been sharing on social media to remind the wonderful ladies you love in your life to do the above; remind your mom, wife, friends and more. No health insurance; the American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen organization and many more can get you the tests you need. You are so worth it. Take care of you.
I thought I’d share a peek into my chemotherapy journal. I had a canvas journal with just watercolor crayons and a couple acrylic colors I like. After chemo of course I was down for the count for a few days but then I’d start to feel a little better. I used minimal supplies because I had a foggy, chemo brain and just wanted to keep it simple. But I would write what was on my heart in this journal even if it was one word. I hope you enjoy. Art is so therapeutic and I’m so grateful for it in my life during all the seasons; valleys and peaks.
Enjoy and tell me . . . are you up to date on your checks? Have you journaled or art journaled through a valley or challenge? Early detection is so important! Make each day count!
With warmest regards,
