Be Kind to Yourself

Life has been pretty busy lately. Between balancing work and family, taking care of myself has taken effort. It’s important however to be kind and care for yourself. One way I do that is by taking even a bit of time to create. Why is this important?

Have you ever been on a plane and gone through the emergency instructions. As an adult, you’re instructed to put on your own oxygen before helping others. It’s true with self-care. You’ve got to take care of yourself in order to take care of others.

Even though things have been so busy, and at one time, a little under the weather, I have had small pockets of time to create. I’ve taken advantage of them. I’ll work on a page, do a little and step away. I’ll continue when I have another pocket of time. This practice I believe is called self-care. It helps me relax, helps me to re-focus, and gives me a little respite from busyness.

I want to encourage you to do the same. Try and make it a daily practice. Maybe it’s a pocket of time to create with your Gel Press plate, sewing, journaling, sitting and having a quiet cup of tea, or doing a crossword puzzle. Recently, the below has been some of the outcome of my pockets of time.

Warmest creative wishes,

This is so true! Thank you for reminding us of this. I find I have to do something arty every day, just for me to keep my head calm. Yesterday was a busy day, and I struggled to find time for me, so last night whilst TV watching, I got my doodle pad and black pen and just created flowers and leaves on pages. It felt good to spend an hour doing something.

      Donna,
I’m so grateful you gave yourself the gift of self-care and time to create. This is absolutely wonderful and I hope that you can make that habit. Wishing you a beautiful week!
