Gel Press Plate + One Stencil = Two Different Funky Tags

Oh the divesity of the Gel Press plate. Coupled with an awesome stencil and acrylic paint, the Gel Press is a catalys for funky and cool looks.

The Crafter’s Workshop (TCW) has an amazing variety of awesome stencils perfect to be used with the Gel Press plate. Oh my!! The below stencil titled ‘Cut Outs’ has to be a favorite. It was created by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer for TCW. Available HERE and on sale HERE.

Here’s what I used to create the following two large tags.

Check out two tags . . . same stencil . . . totally different funky look. Doesn’t the stencil with the gentlemen look like it serves as a seat?

For the Miss . . .

I first applied a few pink polka dots and ink and immediately took a lift from the plate. Then I applied paint randomly on the gel press plate and removed some of the paint through the Cut Out stencil with a sponge. I then let that layer dry. Once dried I took some off-white acrylic paint and took a print from the plate. Because I didn’t clean my gel press plate, when I picked up the print, I got little specks of older paint including metallics. Love it.

Next I applied paint through the stencil onto the gel press plate and lifted that to get the purple funky cut out shape. Because I didn’t place the tag fully on the plate, I got the stripe at the bottom which I liked. I added the Ms. with embossing ink and powder, as well as a quote. Lastly, I sprinkled just a bit of Dina Wakley’s gloss spray for a couple small dots of shiny soft color to lay on top.

For the Mister . . .

I basically did the same as above. I first added some dark polka dots to the plate as well as some script and pulled a print on the tag. Then I randomly added acrylic paint, the cut out shape on top of that and let it dry. I added the Mister, quote sticker and a clip. Lastly, I sprinkled just a bit of Dina Wakley’s gloss spray for a couple small dots of shiny soft color to lay on top. Viola.

For me, I love to embrace the grunge! You?
