Right Now Mondays

Hello all,

I hope this Monday finds you well.  Monday . . . a fresh start, an opportunity to be an epic week, and so much more.

I wanted to share something fun with you and it’s a slight read.

I was thinking the other day when I was art journaling about the phrase ‘Right Now‘.  Then I was thinking about you. So I’d love to make Mondays . . . ‘Right Now Mondays‘.

I’ve been doing a lot of journaling recently . . . some just putting down the written word and other times art journaling.  It’s been a good practice for healing and recording life moments for the future.

This got me thinking, I will share a phrase with you, one that I will be journaling right along with you . . . and I’d love to hear your response.  These ‘Right Now Monday‘ prompts would making super art journaling aides as well.   I plan on sharing art with you on some Mondays.  Most likely I’ll be sharing two Mondays out of the month but maybe more.  When I share the ‘Right Now Monday’ prompt, I would encourage you to respond with what comes to mind first.  Don’t think about it too much.   It can be light-hearted or deep.  Your answer can be profound or simple.  It may be a call to action or a thought.

I’ll be sharing from time to time some art journaling techniques and simple backgrounds to get you started.

If I may, I’d like to encourage you to write this prompt in a journal or art journal.  You may find this starts out your week with perspective and gets feelings and thoughts down on paper. Name it, face it, and move through it. So step one and I’d love for you to follow along with me is to get yourself an art journal.  I love making my own as well but to simply things here are a few suggestions;

  • Canson Mixed Media Book which come in several sizes.  You can find these here at Dick Blick or at Michaels, etc. Very reasonably priced.  You can paint over the cover to personalize.
  • Strathmore Visual Journals are another great option.  Seen here.
  • Barnes and Noble has a nice selection of journals but most of them are specifically for writing. They do have a couple that may work.  You want to make sure you have sturdy pages that can take paint and other mediums.
  • Here’s another option . . . Handbook Artist Journals available here.

Right Now, Right now, although I feel sad, I know there is hope. God is on my side, understands and is working even though that I cannot see.

Daughter, Wife, Mother, Friend, artist, vintage loving, law enforcement officer, Southern Californian, God and country loving girl who loves to meet like minded creative people, share life with new and old friends. Art is a collaboration between God and the artist, and the less the artist does the better. ~André Gide

    Right now. . . I feel overwhelmed so much to do around the house after all those years of fighting cancer and trying to gain my life back I really want to get my house back but it seems like I do not work as fast as I use or as well.

    I am going to start my journal. . . just not today but soon my friend.

      Michelle, I too feel the same exact way as you. I’ve had these same thoughts. I had treatment, then several surgeries (the last one in November) and in December we had a really sad thing happen. So I feel I’m behind as well. But I’m realizing too . . . okay . . . I have my health, family and faith . . . my baseboards can be dirtier a little longer. I’m right there with you. Know you are are in my thoughts and prayers! I too am much slower and not as much energy. Let’s just take it a day at a time! Sending warmest love!!!

    Beautiful artistry. I have my art journal sitting here in front of me because I wanted to get back to it. I think I’ll give “Right Now” a try. Thanks
