‘Queen Bee of Brave’ Tag

Went junk’in with the hubby on Sunday. We also made sure that we visited the ‘Bee Lady’ while we were at the flea market. The Bee Lady (not even sure that’s the business name) carries local honey. She also carries many types of honey infused with other things like pear and other fruit. The hubby uses local honey to often to help combat his allergies.

While junk’in, I found some amazing old toy blocks (you’ll see those in the future), some cute mini lanterns that are rusty with the cutest stained glass cover. In addition to those treasures I found these darling vintage stamps so I decided to create a cute little something to encourage someone I care about to keep up the Brave Fight. She is the Queen Bee of Brave and has been an amazing trooper during treatment.

Here’s a tag I created with a message that serves as a reminder to ‘Bee Brave‘ or to remind her that she is the ‘Queen Bee of Brave.’ Here are some photos of the tag and below is the how to. Keep in mind that this is covered with natural beeswax and when put up to the sun, it’s transparent.

The Back
The Beeswax makes the tag translucent in the light.

Would you like to create your own tag? Here’s how.

Supplies:

  • Ranger/Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink Pad (Spiced Marmalade, Broken China, Fossilized Amber and Brushed Corduroy)
  • Ranger/Tim Holtz Distress Paint (Picket Fence)
  • Donna Salazar Queen Bee Stamp
  • Vintage individual Letter Stamps
  • Tim Holtz Trinket Pin
  • Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer/Water
  • Ranger Craft Mat
  • Heat Tool
  • Resin Flower
  • Seam Binding
  • Misc. Beads
  • Manila Shipping Tag
  • Beeswax
  • Scissors

The How To:

With vintage letters stamp the word Brave. Next with Distress Oxide in Corduroy stamp the Queen Bee. On the back stamp vintage hand.

Stamp/swipe some Oxide ink in desired colors onto a Ranger Craft Mat and mist with some water. Don’t mix the colors on the mat, keep them separate. Take tag and lay face down and press on top off diluted ink. Do the same to the back. Continue to do that on the back until you have the desired color saturation.

Next, melt beeswax on top of tag. Use a heat tool to move the wax around the tag.

To distress the seam binding, swipe Distress Oxide Ink in Fossilized Amber and also dot a little Distress Paint in Picket Fence. Dab the seam binding into the diluted ink and paint. Dry with heat tool being careful not to burn the seam binding but just to dry it. Feel free to crinkle it and dry it as well if you like the wrinkled look.

Tie the seam binding on the tag and glue the resin flower on top of the tag. Add a little Distress Paint in Picket Fence to the top of the resin flower.

Last, thread a couple bead into a trinket pin and place on top of the seam binding.
