Girl Scout Cookies + an Art Journal = Sweet Bonus
A friendly challenge from Angela Daniels resulted in this Girl Scout Cookie Box journal. A friend on a craft blog sent a few of us a box of girl scout cookies. My family shared the first task in this challenge . . . partaking in the cookies.
I took the box and made a cover for my art journal that will hold 'inspiring' quotes. I simply cut off the top, bottom and one side to make a folder like cover. I painted it with a white washed coat of gesso (so I could still see the awesome words like create and inspire). I used Plaid acrylic paint, Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pens and the awesome Crafter's Workshop Poppie stencil designed by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer. I also created some signatures to be included inside my journal. These signatures included beautiful paper from the Artsy Findings store, napkins, and more. I bound the signatures and added beads to the spine. This was the result. It didn't take me but about three hours total and was a blast upcycling a Girl Scout cookie box. What have you upcycled lately? Maybe something you've recycled? I'd love to know.

Cheryl,
PLEASE, Please teach an online course on this!! I am just putting my toe in the art journaling world and I am so hungry for information on how to create my own books, on technique, etc. . . I need it for therapy to get through my illness, but others need it to for lots of reasons. This piece was so beautiful, I can't believe you created it in such a little amount of time. You always amaze me with your talent and creativity!
Have a wonderful, blessed weekend dear friend!

How cool that you made this from the challenge. I hope you will inspire yourself every day with this! I recently repurposed some take out bags as wrapping for a teacher's gift. I love me some upcycling lately
